Introduction to Tapestry
Tapestry is about capturing the magic of a child's early years experience, and recording children's learning in a way that is both secure and that we can share with their parents.
Using a personal and secure username and password given to you by our nursery you will be able to view all of your children’s observations, photographs and even video from their time at Bede Burn Kindergarten. This will enable you to follow your child’s individual progress closely and you can reflect upon their achievements with your child. You can add your own input from home about which activities your child really enjoyed and the learning they get up to outside of nursery to help support your child's development and allow us to ensure your child is getting an education tailored to their individual needs.
Benefits of Tapestry
With the traditional scrap book style of learning journal you would often only be able to have very limited access to the child's journal and would be reliant on small amounts of feedback from staff members while at the nursery. Tapestry, however, allows you to instantly access your child's learning journals from home meaning you can stay up to date with everything your child has been learning and doing at Bede Burn Kindergarten. Tapestry is available through your phone, tablet or computer giving you the freedom to view your child's progress at nursery whenever you want.
Tapestry helps to build strong partnerships between parents and the staff at nursery by giving you the option of interacting with the observations made by our staff and by allowing you to make your own observations from home. You can help supplement your child's learning at nursery by sharing what you get up to at home.
Linking with the EYFS
Staff will reference your child’s learning to the EYFS profile in their Tapestry observations so you will know which area of learning your child is achieving in and the age-band they were working in for that activity. This lets you keep up with how your child is progressing during their time at Bede Burn Kindergarten and helps you identify where you can help support their learning at home.
